I live and work in Chicago, one of the greatest cities in the world! I do not enjoy long walks on the beach (too much sand sticks to you), balloons, and waiting for the CTA. I do enjoy writing, shopping, and generally being quite fabulous!

Animal Dot Shirt & Mom Jean Shorts

If you haven’t noticed I’m obsessed with these black mom jean shorts, you seriously aren’t paying enough attention. They’ve been my go-to all summer and I look forward to wearing them as long as I can. I see them being a staple into fall with fishnets. (more…)

Wardrobe Needs Checklist: Camel Coat

I’m so excited to get my wardrobe needs checklist up and running. Today I focus on a staple of any winter wardrobe, a camel coat.

Honestly, I have a camel coat in my wardrobe but I didn’t wear it at all last winter. It’s a beautiful belted cape coat, which makes wearing my backpack and lugging my laptop around troublesome. Sometimes we have to accept buying items that no longer suit us, but I can’t bring myself to part with it until I find a suitable replacement.

Here are my round-up of the best finds:

Wardrobe Checklist - Camel Coat 1

This Avec Les Filles cargo jacket strikes a balance of practicality and the cool vibe of utilitarianism.

Cole Haan always has a great variety of classic outerwear and this wrap coat is no exception.

The dark, almost orange hue of this Ted Baker coat is one of my favorite finds. I prefer belted coats and this is just an all-around gorgeously constructed garment.

While a tan leather coat wasn’t exactly on my list, I couldn’t help but include this double-breasted blazer. And this was before I saw leather as a fall trend popping up on my Instagram feed.

Wardrobe Checklist - Camel Coat 2

This Cinzia Rocca coat is a gorgeous blend of wool, cashmere and chicness.

A bit on the darker side but this Marc New York is still a stunner.

The Cocoon coat is the perfect name for this chic Everlane option.

AYR stands for All Year Round and is a brand focused on items that can be worn, you guessed it, every season. The Robe coat may not exactly be able to be worn year round but is still an amazing addition.

Wardrobe Checklist - Camel Coat 4

The quad of Mango offerings run the gamut from belted options here and here.

I’m not normally a hooded coat person, as I prefer beanies, but this one is equal parts cold repellant and chic.

Finally, the color of the button front lapel coat is described as coffee and I couldn’t agree more. It’s a bit darker than I thought I was looking for, but it’s an amazing cut. Gotta be willing to be flexible.

Wardrobe Checklist - Camel Coat 3 (2)

For the utmost in chic girl on the go, this wool coat with removable sweatshirt hood from Avec Les Filles is perfect.

Rounding out the selections is this beautiful double-breasted Topshop coat.

Betty Rocker 30 Day Challenge Review: Week 1

I’ve been meaning to begin a workout routine forever. As someone who has never worked out consistently, I’m lost when it comes to where to start, what to do and how long to do it for. So when I saw Betty Rocker’s 30 Day Challenge, I thought it was perfect for me. Thirty days of 15-minute bodyweight workouts that include active recovering days built it (something I’ve heard my more fitness-minded friends discuss is important). That I could do. That I could wrap my head around. So I began on Wednesday, August 7. Here are my day by day thoughts and experiences. (more…)
